Accor – a multinational hospitality company – is expanding its presence in Hungary by opening a new hotel called Swissôtel Budapest Lagoon, company representatives announced. The hotel is planned to open on the banks of the Danube in 2028 and will feature 200 hotel rooms and apartments, along with an artificial lagoon built alongside the hotel.
Accor has ambitious plans in Hungary. Following the introduction of the Pullman brand this year, the company announced that it has signed an agreement with Swiss developer Forty Management to open the first Swissôtel in Budapest. The new hotel will become part of the company’s portfolio in Hungary, which currently includes 27 hotels and three projects under construction.
The group, founded in 1980, will build its latest hotel in Budapest around an artificial lagoon covering 10,000 square meters and a sandy beach of 3,500 square meters. The hotel, named Central District Lagoon City, will be developed on the site of a former industrial area in the south of Budapest (Pesterzsébet), on the eastern bank of one of the Danube’s tributaries.
